coolest day ever

ggso last saturday was the day i went blind 2 years ago, november 23 2011. for this day my girl rented out the whole skatepark the edge its indoor because its winter and there is too much snow to skate. she also got me a brand new element board with thunder light trucks and spitfire wheels and reds bearings! this was all a surprise to me untill we got there. it was epic i got higher than the quarter pipe on the vert wall and landed a full gap on a funbox that had a ramp on either side and a flat part in the middle i also rode the mini pipe and another box. 

i have another video being made with alot more stuff than the last one it will be huge i am doing things i couldnt do when i could see like front and backside boardslides and the pyramid and bowls and boxes and quarter pipes.

i just finished hanging with my bro goody the rapper from selkirk, i have lots of respect for him.   ffj

goose egg

so last weekend i was in the states in grand forks and i was getting out of bed and not being used to where i was i rolled out fast and smoked my head on the tv stand and had quite a goose egg going, my parents left for fargo already wich is an hour from where we were so i called the other people we were with acouple rooms down and on the phone i said "hey so can you come take me down for breakfast oh and look at my head i might be leeding , no im definately bleeding." what a wake up call right so i would be walking around and prople we were with would ask let me see and i would lift my hair to reveal the bump:P
then when i went to the mall my friend taylor helped me walk around and shop :)
back at the hotel i was skateboarding out back and i landed a 360 shove it off the curb and when i alked in the lady behind the counter was all shocked and like wait you skateboard im like yup hahaha
then before i went back home i ran into a frend from home and she told me she saw someone walking around the mall wearing a TBK sweater !

the day i met Tony Hawk

so a while ago this summer i met Tony Hawk and the day i met him i was in line at the sports check at 7 in the m orning untill 1:15 and once i finally got inside and got my number i had to wait in another line for about half an hour. when me and my buddies that i met there got in to the basement to the smaller line that Tony was at we got our stuff we wanted signed ready, my bros helped me up to him and i was like Tony? he was like yeah im like im not sure if you know me or not im brett devloo or the blind kid. he was like oh your that blind guy that can land laser flips right?! im like jaw dropped oh uh aha yeah in slight shock then we talked for a few seconds i got a picture with him and he signed a shirt that i have with some signatures that when i get more i am gonna auction it off for my foundation and i also gave him a shirt then after all that i went out the parking lot and skated around with my cane before the big demo with a big half pipe that is like taller than a 1 story house and somebody started skating with me and stopped me saying he loves what im doing how i keep skating and he gave me a free hat and shirt confused at this point he was like im corbin you stay with these two girls im like haha uh ok :P a couple seconds later i heard his voice on the huge speakers that could be heard from blocks away, he said " hey everyone im corbin you know me from the x games im a proffesional skate and i announce with Tony Hawk , theres this blind boy in the parking lot hes skate boarding hes groovy man!" then the girls were like lets go into vip from there i called my buddies in they were like what wow i said you should have stuck with me where were you they were in the back i was like well your welcome you are now 5 feet away :P

Meghan Rivers

so i got the opprotunity to talk to this very strong girl meghan rivers who unfortunately lost her vision a year ago due to an accident. it was very interesting to talk with her and know i could help even a little, she lives out in bc and it is really cool to know how she heard of me . her cousin recieved a shirt of mine from a friend here in manitoba and told m.r. about me.

busy busy

sorry for not blogging in a while i graduated on saturday and was up untill 3 and just very busy and i am going to country fest so i will make a very long blog and full of detail probably next weekend because iwill be very busy untill then

were you rolling when i ate concrete ?

so i had an interview with shaw tv and it went great they shot me skating alot and they had some really good questions like she asked me if i knew how unique my personality and attitude is and i was like uh nope its just me:) they got me skating with my cane down the sidewalk and i told them that my buddy usuallygets interviewed with me and they were like can you call him so he answered some questions and they also shot us walking down the sidewalk just chatting about whatever.
while skating for them i took a nasty fall while mid air i was jumping the bank of the pyramid and lostfooting and tried to get back on the board and tripped myself with my board and i landed a bit away from the ramp on my hip my shoulder my elbow and my knee and ankle but only walked away with some road rash and kept skating first thing i did was look at the camera man and he said in a thank god voice "we didnt get that dont worry " i was like oh my god are you serious tha twould have been epic if you got that lol then i did a handstand for the camera then the interviewer was like i cant watch then she did watch and was like can do that again i need a picture lol im like yeah sure i guess:P
then i also hung out with an old friend and met someone she has told about me :)

successful skate or what

i went for a long skate today and i landed the ollie over the bank of the pyramid at the skateppark a few times and i also landed a backside boardslide, and i went up the quarter pipe and turned around went up the pyramid and landed a varial heelflip at the top and rode down.
today i also went and got some dress shoes for grad on saturday.

i went for a 3 mile walk today with a friend from my house in the country to town just for a slurpee and i think someone knew who i was because instead of waving they honked at me i think its funny when i am walking with people and they tell someone just waved at me like i cant see you :P it must really trip them out when i wave back

shwing

this weekend i went to notre dame and hung out with my cousin andmet some new friends. there was this guy that didnt believe that iwas blind when i told him and he overheard me using a pickup line the last social i was at when i said hey im blind want to make out lol and he thought it was just a sick pick up line and thought of using it :P then he met me on saturday and was just making fun and teasing me like one of the bros and then he actually realized that i am blind and he felt so bad for making fun like it had nothing to do with my vision and i told him its cool man it makes me feel like im normal and not getting special treatment. while at his house i had to go inside and change i went in alone and made my way upsstairs and into a room i had no idea what kind of room it was and i took alot of turns to get ito it and then on the way out i got lost in the house and went out the front door which is not the door i came in and started yelling MARCO and then i hear POLO from far bac so i made my way out and around to the backyard and someone got my shoes from the back door:P
then later that day a couple of the guys said who wants to go golfing and isad well yeah and 2 other guys went to the course i golfed all 9 holes and we played best ball and we actually used my ball a few times and i also got 2 putts in all they did was line me up and i would swing i also drove the golf cart the majority of the time i got it in the water onece and had to golf 6 holes with a wet foot:P and we were good the rest of the game and then we went to a social and a bunch of old friends i havent seen or talked to in a long time were thee

you feel like skrillex

this morning i went for a walk with two friends we went to tims to get some donuts and i asked if they minded if we went to the skatepark after and they didnt so from tims they didnt know how to get there so i said follow the blind kid he knows where hes going and honestly that is not the first time i have heard that:P we made it to the skatepark then i taught them how to skate and i also landed something new that i habent even landed when i could see it was an ollie over the bank of a pyramid.
then i went for a nother walk with two other friends and we also went in the same direction as tims but next door is esso for slushies then later today around 330 i realized the time and i needed to take the bus home because i use it for a ride to town, and i sprinted from one side of the school yard to the complete other side and i have only gone that way once before and i was walking then with someone else this time i was alone and i made it to bus just in time.
after i got home my mom and i went to an old friend of hers and her daughter is a friend of mine and she shaved half of her head and told me i should feel it and it felt so sweet so needless to say i felt some girls head today:P

biking no worries

tonight i biked for the first time in over a year i havent done it in so long because the last time i tried blind i ran into this big gt made of exauhst pipes so it was really heavy i hit my face and my shoulder, i broke my braces and put a hole on the inside of my mouth and messed up a muscle in my shoulder lol.:P but that wasall a year ago i did better this time. i also walked around town today with my cane and helped a friend pick colors for her art project

busy day with great friends

today mei worked out twice first thing when i got to school i went hard and then i went for a walk to tim hortans for a tea because i lost my voice andthen i got a slurpee, then on my way back i went to visit my friends mom at her work who i havent talked to in a quite a while and she was really pleased for the surprise. then when i got back to school my bro called me saying hes done one of his exams and seeing if i wanted to go workout with them so i did. when i got back to the school my cousin who i havent talked to in very long time called me asking if i wanted to go for lunch, i gave him directions on how to meet me somewhere and i left the school running and met him there at the same time i didnt even need to use my cane but i had it jus incase. i then got home and my other bro called me asking if was home and he just got home from alberta this week so i havent seen him in like 3 months and we had a good time hanging out. so all in all i had a great day :P

little better than local news

so today i was on the front page of the local news paper the winnipeg free press and in the picture i am doing a laser flip off the curb, somehow from the article a company from california www.lhon.org emailed me and told me about themselves and told me if i want them to introduce me to a blind skater who knows tony hawk they could i said yes please lol and i have been emailing them (lhon and the skater )
i went to a social yestarday and i was walking around with two girls at all times like one in either hand lol people told me i look like a pimp, there was a dj there and hearing him really made me want to dj again .

gso my article in thefree press came out today and i am on the cover of it doing a laser flip off a curb in the picture and a company www.lhon.org from california somehow read it and got ahold of me.         last night i went to a social with a few friends and i was walking around with a girl on either hand while walking places so i dont walk into things and i dont like to look blind so people were tellingmr i looked like a pimp:P 

classes? dont need them

yestarday i didnt have classes but i still went to school because i had to hand in a paper and i sit in on random classes, i only got kicked out of one because i didnt have to be there . while walking down the hall a teacher yelled "brett where are you supposed to be" i was like im done classes and then she laughed and said oh yeah ... i forgot.

it would be easier if i could see the rail

i fished my third day of my english provincial ecxam, i am pretty much done i have my whole rough draft of my essay done all i have to do now is have it re written and then i am done i have about 4 or 5 pages of essay.
while skating today i landed a boardslide of a round bar rail and i couldnt even see the rail...
i had a massage today and i told her when i was finished i am goin to the skatepark and she was freaking out because i have to cross a really busy road, so she came outside and watched me cross to make sure i was ok.
i had my last math class today then i have my math exam next wednesday .

good thing i didnt walk her the whole way

i was skateboarding today right after i finished my second day of my english exam. while skating i took a break from ollieing up on a curb and manualling across it and i sat with a couple friends, i then got a call from the free press for a photo shoot. i i did the shoot tonight and we got some pictures of me doing a handstand while moving on my board and some of me doing a laser flip off a curb.
then i walked a friend just a short portion of the way home and then on the way back i got lost and some how made it into someones driveway fortunately he knew me i dont remember who he was though. he then hellped me reach my destination

blind track ?

i started my english language arts exam today it takes 4 days. if you are wondering how i do exams i have a scribe wich means i have someone who will read what the exam says and write what i say. the topic for the exam is justice .
today while at the restraunt mongos my mom thought she was being funny by leaving and saying "hey brett, watch my purse... hahaha" and she was it was hilarious.
it was track meet today at my school and while walking around with my friend i said i should try out for some events, like javelin or shot put all they would have to do is point me in the right direction:P or long jump i just have to run and then last second someone yell ok jump now.:)

legos...

so this weekend i went down to notre dame and went to a social with my friend richie and it was an outside social so there were people everywhere and random picnic tables everywhere. with it being so packed i ran into alot of people i even bonked heads with some girls faces and some guys shoulders, but other than that richie helped me out awesomely.
richie is hilarious when it comes to my blindness because he knows i am good with jokes and love them, him an i were sitting in his basement and he was about to go for a shower but before he left he turned around and said "Wait don't move anywhere there are legos everywhere!!"i laughed for about twenty minutes.(if you dont get the joke it is because it is terrible to step on legos when you can see so you could imagine if you didnt see them coming and they were everywhere)
another time richie and i were at a party and some guys outside were talking to richie and said hey whos that douche bag with his sunglasses inside because i dont look blind and i dont use my cane in situations like that, then richie told them im blind so they felt really bad until they found out i love jokes and then they said we sould dress me up in some hot pink skinny jeans and a hot pink shirt and write on the shirt tell him he looks good and send him off to a party i thought that was hilarious.
and just so you know richie doesn't mean any of the jokes in a rude way they are all in good nature because i think they are funny too.

helping hand

so yestarday i went to a friends house and we watched and i listened to a movie i havent seen before and it had adam sandler in it but they said he looked different than he usually does so it was wierd not knowing what he looks like because i am used to him looking one way so i visualize him one way.
this morning i went to the school for a drama performance and all i did was help set up but it felt good because people were actually asking for my help and i actually could help.

today i picked up my suit for grad and it is a black suit and a teal dress suit and a white tie and belt and black ray bans.it is wierd not being able to know what color exactly you are wearing when it is something important like this especially when i have an image of what i want in my head.
so today when iwas walking to the bus it was raining pretty good wich made it really hard to see on top of being blind because it is already really blurry and then add rain on my sunglasses.

a walk with a friend

so today i went skateboarding in town during my spare, i went by a store on the sidewalk out front and got some speen ollied up and manualled the sidewalk and landed it on the other side.
i also went for a walk with a friend today who is aspiring to be a photographer and she took her camera with us on the walk and would randomly position me and say stay right there and take a picture, it was really cool.

chicks dig scars

hey so i made a sticker that says the blind kid on it in brail and i put on the back of my phone, so now on my phone i have my logo and i have the blind kid in brail. while at the pits yestarday for senior skip day after i showed a couple of people it more and more kept asking to see it or well feel it.
so for an update on my skate boarding i can now land laser flips fakie laser flips and sometimes tre flips, while handstanding i can ollie with my hands. on a side note on that topic around the beginning of this season i was doing a handstand and my left wrist gave out and i hit my face on the ground cutting up my chin, then with this battle wound i went to a social with a band aid on my face, and this girl ripped it off my face and said "chicks dig scars".
back to skateboarding i have a photoshoot with pancakes and skateboards soon and one with the winnipeg free press.

Christmas/Past

Hey everybody sorry for the not blogging in a while. But Merry Christmas and happy new year.
so Christmas was a new experience for me this year because i had lost a lot more vision than last year. For example my parents gave me a country fest ticket but instead of just giving me a piece of paper because i cant read it they gave me hints on what i got like sunscreen and a water jug and when i still didn't get it they played a song from one of the performers there and then i got it, they still wrapped all of my presents for sentimental value.
i met Phoebe Dyekstra a couple of weeks ago she drove me home from school and then bought a shirt.
In the past 2 months i have had a couple of videos go out one of which will air on national tv this month.
i spoke at a school in Teulon for the entire school about myself :P with a group of people it went very well.
